Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds Expanding Fronts - Collector's Edition (Personal/School Project)

For our final project in a class this semester, we had a choice of two assignments: create a cartoon-like character, or a detailed collector's edition, with promotional imagery and all. Given that I love doing illustration work, and had been putting off some personal projects for a while, I chose the latter.

For this assignment, we had to either create a game or take an existing one, and imagine a Collector's Edition for it - What would it contain? We had to illustrate it, and the professor suggested looking at Limited Run's own Collector Editions (being familiar with them, I was instantly thrilled at the opportunity to imagine such a product, even if it was just for fun).

The mod team working on the Expanding Fronts mod for Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, have always been a team whose work I admired. I've been wanting to create for them some sort of key art, and saw this as the perfect opportunity to finally do so. I always saw this mod as being more of a real expansion to the game, than just a simple mod.

I also chose this project and chose Star Wars as my theme, as I knew that Disney/Lucasfilm create and release massive amounts of promotional images and art in the form of transparent PNG files (or with a simple white background) to promote their movies and sell related merchandise. As such, I figured that it should be pretty easy to create a box art for a Star Wars game or mod, especially one that emulates the imagery of past Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds box arts. After a few days of hard work, here is what I've ended up with! Personally, I'm pretty happy with the end result.

Given that these Art Books are so common in Collector's Editions, I figured I'd add an one in the product description to help make it seem like a real product.

I really tried to stay true to the style of these manuals, again, the text is identically placed on both manuals. The idea was to sell that this is a "real expansion", so it had to follow the visual design of the originals to a T.

SWGB Manual I used as reference for the EF one. Placement of every text and logo is the same.

A few logo tests I did before settling on the all caps "Rogue Heaven" logo, to represent the mod's developers. Since the idea is to make a real product, it needs an actual team of developers. I also figured I might as well make the mod team a logo, too.
